Part 1: Generic specification
This generic specification establishes standard terms, inspection procedures and methods of test for use in subordinate sectional and detail specifications describing fixed resistors of various types:
- Low power film resistors with leads;
- Power resistors;
- Resistors for surface mount assembly;
- Resistor arrays and networks.
This 5th Edition is a complete editorial and technical revision, up to date with the latest ISO/IEC Directives, and providing a well-structured range of test methods:
- Electrical measurements and tests;
- Endurance tests;
- Electrical overload tests;
- Mechanical measurements and tests;
- Environmental and climatic tests;
- Test related to component assembly;
- Tests related to safety.
The application of this specification within a quality assessment system is supported by an Annex providing links to the applicable procedures of IECQ, and by another Annex supporting the assessment of established reliability and a failure rate level. The revision of this generic specification has resulted in a new document structure, and therefore in new clause numbers for many commonly referenced items. The Annex X provides a cross reference for assisting any reader in tracking such references.
